Watch Robocop Online Free RoboCop" is a movie about a very smart, technically proficient crew that, when a good man has been seriously injured, takes the living organism apart and then puts it back together with synthetic pieces.
The filmmakers started with the original, 1987 slick sci-fi actioner by Paul Verhoeven. They disassembled it, eliminating some of the wilder political satire, and making the violence mostly bloodless. Then they added better effects, a stronger supporting cast, and a different ending.
The cynical touches are still here, only updated (the cybercop is now an outgrowth of a drones program, and the film's newsbreaks are delivered by a mad Bill O'Reilly clone played by Samuel L. Jackson).
And the basic plot remains — in which a nearly murdered Detroit policeman is given a second chance by being outfitted with mechanical limbs, an armored torso and a few chips in his brain.
Watch Robocop Online It's a good story, if a familiar one — there's a bit of the "Judge Dredd" comics in this — and Brazilian director Jose Padilha (whose first film was the gripping documentary "Bus 174") handles the action sequences and special effects well.
The various firefights are all staged a little differently. Some of the lab scenes — particularly one which reveals our hero to consist solely of a head, lungs and a single hand, all connected by plastic tubes — are gruesomely surreal.
The film's big flaw, though, is in its hero, played by Sweden's Joel Kinnaman — and most recently of American TV's "The Killing" — who seems robotic in or out of armor. (At least Peter Weller, the original "RoboCop," had a beautifully sculpted mouth — a distinct advantage when that's all you can see under that helmet.)
But at least the dependable Gary Oldman adds a good deal of humanity as a corporate Dr. Frankenstein, worrying about both free will and roll-out dates, and it's nice to have Michael Keaton and his devilish eyebrows back in action playing the billionaire villain.
Between those two actors, and some smart effects (Jackson does his TV interviews via holograms) the movie perks along for a good hour or so. It's only then it begins to lose its way, introducing a third-act complication that doesn't really work.
Watch Robocop Online Free Movie And while it should be applauded for not simply repeating the sardonic joke of the first film — "You're fired!" — it doesn't really have a better climax to replace it. The movie just sort of ties things up and ends.
In the end, like RoboCop himself, it doesn't seem quite as truly, organically alive as it once did. But it sure looks sleek, and moves pretty fast. And if you don't think too much, it almost feels like the real thing.
